Summary
The team is responsible for the department's corporate identity and brand and the production of high-quality, usable and accessible digital and printed publications.
You will project manage all stages of the procurement and production of digital and printed content. From collaborating with DfT staff to write specifications and briefs, to working with external suppliers to provide print, digital, creative, design, translation and accessibility services.
Working as part of a small team, you will be in regular conversation with internal stakeholders and commercial suppliers. The 2 primary areas of responsibility are:
Publication production
You will project manage the production of high-quality, usable and accessible digital and printed publications. Your role includes:
- Working with DfT authors to understand their needs and draft specifications for publication, print, design, translation and accessibility work.
- Agreeing publication production schedules with DfT authors and commercial suppliers.
- Reviewing documents to provide initial guidance on design, branding, formatting and production methods.
- Advising DfT authors on document accessibility and assessing the accessibility of work produced by commercial suppliers.
- Working with DfT authors and commercial suppliers to produce alternative formats under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulation 2018 (PSBAR) Act, including British Sign Language (BSL), Braille, easy read, accessible PDF files etc.
- Acceptance testing work produced by commercial suppliers.
- Working with DfT authors and commercial suppliers to prioritise multiple stands of work and ensure that tight and moving deadlines are met.
- Provide first line support for the use of corporate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.
Contract and financial management
You will manage contracts and relationships with commercial suppliers. Your role includes:
- Working with DfT authors to draft requests for quotes.
- Reviewing and challenging quotes for work from commercial specialists.
- Ensuring that DfT authors raise purchase orders, goods receipts and pay invoices on time.
- Investigating and resolving billing and payment issues with DfT authors and commercial suppliers.
- Recording and reporting billing and payment risks or issues.
- Managing contract budgets, recording and monitoring project financial data and tracking expenditures using Microsoft Excel and SAP.
- Managing the performance of on-call contracts.
