Summary

About us:

The above posts exist within the Vale of Glamorgan’s Neighbourhood Services and Transport Department Operations Group and sits within a busy Highway Maintenance team. The Highway Maintenance team are responsible for ensuring all adopted assets are regularly inspected and public enquiries are responded to promptly, therefore we are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced officer within the team to undertake these works. The officer will be required to specifically liaise with external Contractors, members of public and Councillors to ensure good communication throughout, whilst ensuring the network is inspected and in safe condition.

About the role:

Pay Details: Grade 6 SCP 14-19 : £28,624 – £31,067
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37hrs/52 weeks
Main Place of Work: Alps Depot, Wenvoe

Description: The Neighbourhood Officer Inspections and Enforcement role will primarily be required to attend site meetings with contractors and ensure the adopted assets are safe and free of obstructions. The candidate will also be required to manage public and Councillor complaints affecting public highway and this can via email exchanges, verbal and face to face contact.


About you:

You will need:

• Highway maintenance or highway engineering technical experience
• NRASW Act Qualifications
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Practical attitude for dealing with complaints
• Self-motivated and the ability to motivate and communicate effectively with staff and members of the Public
• Knowledge of engineering practices, the Highways Act (1980) and New Road and Street Works Act (1991).
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a busy environment.
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Able to devise and prioritise own workload.
• Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate.
