Salary: UH7 £38,249 pa with potential to progress to £45,413 pa on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities
The confluence of 5G and machine learning is revolutionising wireless networks, paving the way for a broad range of vertical applications and fostering a vision of pervasive distributed intelligence. Future 6G/B6G communication is envisaged to provide superior quality of experience through the harmonious integration of communication, computation, and data. We are seeking a researcher to specialize in the evolution toward 6G/B6G communication, emphasizing the distribution of intelligence across edge and beyond, to realize edge-native intelligent 6G/B6G communication.

To carry out other specific duties as may be reasonably requested by the Academic leads, commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Collaboration with co-workers within the Communications and Intelligence Systems Research Group, other Higher Education institutions and other appropriate organisations is expected. The postholder will be expected to disseminate the outcomes of the research conducted in high quality journals and at conferences and contribute to the preparation and drafting of research bids and proposals

Skills and Experience required
Research on integrating machine learning with edge communication technology is important for developing solutions that enable real-time data processing and adaptive decision-making, thereby meeting the required QoS for various vertical applications. In addition, a proven track record of successful publication of significant research ideas and results in peer-reviewed journals is required. While the postholder may have deeper and more comprehensive research experience in wireless communication, they should have an understanding of machine learning.

Qualifications required
You will require a minimum of a good undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent) and above in a relevant discipline and a PhD (or equivalent qualification) or be close to completion of a PhD (no more than 3 months prior to viva) in an appropriate and relevant subject area or have equivalent research experience.
