Summary

As a Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the nursing team, ensuring high standards of clinical practice, and contributing to the strategic development of our services. You will play a key role in mentoring staff, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices. Key Responsibilities: Provide strong clinical leadership and support to the nursing team. Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care in line with regulatory standards. Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff to enhance their professional growth. Implement policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain excellence in patient care. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes. Monitor and audit clinical performance, identifying areas for improvement. Manage resources effectively, ensuring efficient use of staff and equipment. Act as a point of contact for complex patient care issues and decision-making. Lead infection prevention and control initiatives, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines. Conduct infection control audits, risk assessments, and staff training to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety. Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Lead Practice Nurse may be requested to: Develop and review audit protocols and process for the practice, effectively utilising the audit cycle Develop, review and implement nursing protocols in conjunction with the partners Support all members of the nursing team, providing guidance when necessary, conducting appraisals and training needs analyses as required Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care Support and participate in shared learning within the practice in order to improve patient care Continually review clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiatives where appropriate Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach, i.e., root cause analysis (RCA) Coordinate the nursing team rota, ensuring sufficient staff are available to meet patient needs Lead the planning and implementation of changes within the nursing team, enhancing the provision of services to patients Support the practice team with the reviewing and implementation of practice policies and protocols, ensuring conformance to extant legislation In addition to key Lead Nurse responsibilities you will be required to undertake and be actively involved in patient care, including assessments, treatments and general nursing duties.
