RPS projects are all around you. We define, design and manage projects that create shared value to a complex, urbanising and resource-scarce world. Our people are our success. We need people who share our passion on solving the problems that matter. With us, you’ll find work that is challenging and rewarding, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

This is an exciting role that will vary greatly from day to day. Some days will be spent working with our clients and attending meetings and workshops and providing advice to help manage their consent applications or compliance. Other days will be spent working with our various environmental teams with their delivery programmes and schedules. You’ll take responsibility across our teams for delivery of the required technical inputs for our clients.

You’ll be the main project point of contact to manage key environmental stakeholder interfaces and delivery. You may act as Project Manager or alternatively support the Project Manager for the financial performance of our projects.

What you’ll be doing:

Programme coordination between client, design teams and consent application teams.

Management and delivery of multiple and multi-disciplinary consents applications.

Work with client and design teams to identify all relevant environmental consents required and advise on their management.

Advising client of environmental risks during planning, design and construction of projects.

Confirm consents required with stakeholders, regulators and client and negotiate agreements

Coordinate with the client for delivery of design and construction information required for consent delivery.

Scheduling of priority activities and deliverables and managing or coordinating environmental site teams.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinate and chair relevant technical meetings with client, stakeholders and client.

Produce and coordinate high quality documents for submission to determining authority.

Plan integration of consent conditions into design and working methodology.

Communicate consent requirements to site teams/client/technical teams.

Audit of consent conditions and compliance.

Ensuring RPS’ and client’s QA, doc control and H&S procedures are adhered to.

Scope and change management alongside the Project Manager.

Supporting commercial aspects of proposals and tenders.

Preparing pricing schedules and budgets for tenders.

Supporting existing client management and new client development.

Who we’re looking for:

Be conversant in project planning and delivery of environmental aspects to satisfy planning/Development Consent Order (DCO) applications, requirements or conditions.

Demonstrable delivery support of consent programme on major UK infrastructure projects.

Experience delivering multi-disciplinary consenting related activities across (but not limited to) – water, biodiversity, cultural heritage, landscape and contaminated land remediation.

Knowledge and experience delivering consents such as hybrid Bills (e.g HS2), Planning Act, Transport and Works Act, Highways Act and Town and Country Planning Act and Environmental Permitting regimes.

Understanding of issues around consenting and risks to design process, with experience integrating consent requirements into design.

Education and experience

You will typically have been working on projects supporting delivery on environmental requirements and commitments alongside planning, design and / or construction in consultancy/professional services and comfortable with delivering commercial aspects of projects.

Relevant degree or equivalent required.
