Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the high-profile and fast-paced Arts & Libraries team, which sits within the Culture & Creative Industries (CCI) directorate. CCI comprises just over a hundred colleagues in three policy teams working across the creative industries, arts, and museums sectors, supported by a team of analysts. Our aim is to protect and promote the long term resilience of the very best of our nation’s cultural and creative assets to ensure they are made available to the widest possible audience, both at home and abroad, to improve the quality of life of individuals, communities and the nation, and promote the UK to the world.

The Arts & Libraries team mission is to engage and support our world-leading arts and culture sector in order to increase the personal, economic and social benefits of culture at a local and national level, through effective public investment and policy making. Recent work in the team has included developing policy proposals on youth and skills, capital funding for the sector, and creative excellence; overseeing and supporting the delivery of several new cultural projects around the country; and sponsoring Arts Council England.

This is an exciting SEO role with the Arts team’s stakeholder engagement and strategy branch. Engaging with our sector to facilitate excellent policy and strategy development and providing high quality briefing and parliamentary products for Ministers will be a core focus. The postholder will join a dynamic and fast-paced team, where the flexibility to take on different responsibilities at different times, as determined by evolving ministerial and strategic priorities, will be standard. The postholder will likely focus on:

  • Designing and implementing comprehensive stakeholder management strategies aligning with departmental objectives, ensuring proactive and effective engagement with key internal and external stakeholders. Tailoring strategies to address diverse stakeholder needs and expectations across the arts sector.
  • Conducting thorough stakeholder analysis across the arts sector to identify key individuals, groups, and organisations. Developing stakeholder mapping tools and frameworks to guide engagement efforts and best manage relationships.
  • Forge and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders in the arts sector. This includes identifying relevant events and key issues to support Ministerial engagement and high quality policy making within the wider team.
  • Managing a team responsible for drafting, coordinating, and delivering of high quality briefing products for ministers and senior officials. This includes parliamentary questions, debates and correspondence.
