These YJB Roles are contractually based at the nearest MoJ Collaboration or Satellite Centre but YJB staff work flexibly, including from their homes. Some travel in England and/or Wales is a requirement of the role.

Who are we? The Youth Justice Board for England and Wales (YJB) is the public body which advises Ministers, including the Secretary of State for Justice, on the youth justice system. Our ambition is to see a Child First youth justice system. A system which looks to children’s strengths and supports children to become the best version of themselves. Role purpose You will provide administrative support to the Operations directorate which leads the operation of the YJB’s system oversight and practice arrangements across England and Wales. You will be responsible for making sure that the Standards and Improvements Team and Directors of Operations have their administrative needs met in a professional and timely manner which enables them to fulfil their duties efficiently and effectively. You will also lead on managing the YJB’s Operations central mailbox, known as ‘CBU’. This will include screening and disseminating messages, sending out external communications in line with standard policy and providing business support for centralised YJB Operations functions. Role Context You will be part of the Standards and Improvements Team within the Operations South Directorate. The Standards and Improvements Team helps fulfil many of the YJB’s statutory duties to monitor the youth justice system and the provision of youth justice services, providing advice to ministers and other organisations about how well the system is operating and promoting effective practice. You will work within the Operations South Directorate and collaborate with other Directorates covering the North of England and Wales. Key activities and relationships
Provide administrative support for the Standards and Improvements Team and Operations Directors, supporting the operational delivery of the YJB’s priorities.
Provide appropriate business support for meetings including scheduling the meetings and recording minutes.
Manage the Central Business Unit mailbox, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Consistently demonstrate support and respect for the YJB’s commitment to equity, inclusivity and diversity, both within the YJB and with its partners.
Ensure you understand and adhere to your responsibilities regarding health and safety and data protection.
Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues in both England and YJB Cymru.
Work flexibly to meet the requirements of the business. You may be required to undertake other duties within your role or in other parts of the business at your grade to meet business priorities.
