Summary

Our company are designers & producers of joinery products from our 500m2 manufacturing facility, including design studio, machine shop, assembly & spray booths. We are a busy team looking for a Wood Machinist to ensure a smooth running facility bringing support & organisational experience to the team.

Role & Responsibilities

Program CNC using CAD/CAM software.

Reading and interpreting drawings; Accurately interpreting technical drawings and specifications to determine the required cuts and shapes on the wood.

Machine setup and operation: Setting up and operating a variety of woodworking machinery including table saws, band saws, planers, moulders, routers, edge banders & CNCs.

Material selection: Choosing the appropriate type and grade of wood for the intended application.

Cutting and shaping: Precisely cutting and shaping wood pieces to required dimensions using various cutting and shaping tools on the machinery.

Quality control: Inspecting finished components for accuracy, defects, and adherence to quality standards.

Maintaining machinery: Performing routine maintenance and cleaning on woodworking equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

Calculating measurements: Accurately measuring and calculating necessary dimensions for each piece of wood.

Waste management: Minimizing waste by efficiently utilizing wood materials.

Attend team meetings.

Managing set personal targets.

Support all departments as necessary.

Required skills for a wood machinist role:

To be successful in this role, you should exhibit experience in wood machinist based experience, minimum of 3 years. Be process driven, controlled under pressure and importantly a team player for the delivery of a very demanding sector of manufacturing. The ability to multi-task in a complex and demanding environment and have the ability to build and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of people (both internally and externally).
