Summary
In relation to this post, the Department of Gastroenterology is looking to appoint a Gastroenterologist with an interest in nutrition and intestinal failure to support our provision as one of the largest IF centres in the UK. 2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growing intestinal failure workload and help shape a developing service. As a major teaching hospital, surgical centre and home to - amongst other specialisms - the Yorkshire Cancer Centre, our in-patient intestinal failure and nutrition work spans the full range of Types I, II and III intestinal failure. Our success is such that we now have approximately200 home parenteral nutrition patients and the current model of multi-disciplinary led care works well, but the growing workload would benefit from extra consultant leadership. This will enable improved patient experience with better outcomes. In addition the postholder will contribute to outpatient and endoscopy targets and will take part in general gastroenterology inpatient care, as illustrated in the representative job plan.
