UHI Perth is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands. As part of the UHI we deliver vocational and academic qualifications from SCQF Level 3 through to SCQF Level 12. Providing bite sized chunks of training and education through transition, upskilling, reskilling, second skilling and skills academies.

We are looking to recruit a Lecturer Construction from a variety of trade backgrounds, covering either Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork, Roofing or Painting & Decorating to join our growing team of teaching staff. You will support and deliver education and training to full-time, part-time, National Progression Awards, Schools, Foundation and Modern Apprenticeship courses. The past few years have seen a substantial increase in applications for all Built Environment, Construction Crafts and Building Services curricula, and commercial deliverables, and this expansion has created the requirement for extra teaching staff.

The campus is well resourced to deliver a sector leading and innovative learning experience in carpentry and joinery with a well-balanced mix of classrooms and practical training workshops.

Within your specialisation, you will be responsible for preparing materials for learning, teaching and assessment and the teaching of theory, practical elements, and supervising student work. You will also contribute to the development of the Built Environment, Construction Crafts and Building Services curricula.

You should be time-served and hold an advanced craft qualification in your trade area. Further training will be provided for the successful candidate if required.

In addition to the above, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively within a team. A strong customer- focus and an awareness of high standards is required in the relevant trade industry. You should have a passion and drive to be an effectual and innovative contributor to the continued success of this department.

Previous teaching experience is not essential for candidates with appropriate industrial experience.

Closing date: 23:30 on Sunday 16 March 2025
Interview date: Tuesday 25 March 2025
This post undertakes regulated work with children and a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme check is required. A check will be made against the list of those barred from working with children.
