Summary

Job Description

Glasgow City Council’s Summer Internship Programme will be available from Monday 9 June 2025 – Friday 29 August 2025, inclusive.

Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.

The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage. Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12-week placement.

Applicants require to be available week commencing 31 March 2025 for interview.

The Spatial Planning – Research and Development Team within Planning and are based within Neighbourhood, Regeneration & Sustainability (NRS). Planning supports the development, implementation and monitoring of the Open Space Strategy (OSS) and Forestry and Woodland Strategy (FWS).

The role of the intern will be to focus on filling gaps in existing data which were identified by the OSS and FWS and will improve the delivery of both Strategies through improved monitoring information, enhanced use of Geographic Information Systems (GSS) and improved decision making.

The work and findings of the project will be implemented and used to support the delivery of statutory duties. Specifically, the project will aid in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the FWS and the OSS.
Broadly, the improved data made available through the internship can contribute to addressing climate change and enhance biodiversity through delivering the FWS, OSS and the Strategic Plan.
Working with existing officers the candidate will be required to effectively communicate across a variety of audiences and comfortable with outdoor work.
