Carbon60 are working with a leading defence organisation seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to join their multi-national team of 30+ specialists.


Key Details

  • Duration: 6 months (extension likely).
  • Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
  • Pay: £340 per day (umbrella, Inside IR35).
  • Location: Stevenage (hybrid - 2 to 3 days per week on-site).



Main Resposiniblities

  • Manage product configuration and design definitions for multiple project variants.
  • Control engineering changes within the company's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool - Windchill.
  • Support the Configuration Manager by ensuring all elements of the design remain accurate, structured, and well-documented.
  • Ensure compliance with project change control processes.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders across engineering and project teams, acting as the focal point for Configuration Management activities.
  • Contribute to Configuration Meetings, preparing and delivering key data to internal teams.



Required Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Configuration Management principles and experience applying them in a professional engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across engineering, project, and stakeholder teams.
  • Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented, with a high concern for order and quality.
  • Experience managing design definitions and implementing engineering changes across the product lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in Configuration Management.



Desirable Experience & Certifications

  • CM2 certification (highly desirable).
  • Proficiency with Windchill (PLM tool).
  • Prior experience in the defence and/or automotive industries (desirable).
