Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior SEN Caseworker (PO2) to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with special educational needs. In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the casework process for children and young people with special educational needs, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and services to thrive in their educational environments. Your extensive knowledge of SEN legislation and guidance will be vital in advising schools, parents, and other stakeholders on best practices. Collaborating closely with local authorities and external agencies, you will facilitate assessments and ensure the development of effective and tailored Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). As a Senior Caseworker, you will also lead a team, providing mentorship and direction while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an empathetic approach, and a commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in education. Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children with special educational needs and ensure the timely completion of assessments and EHCPs.
Liaise with parents, schools, and other professionals to develop individualized support plans for children and young people.
Provide training and support to educational staff on SEN procedures and best practices for inclusive education.
Analyse data and case information to inform strategic planning and resource allocation for SEN services.
Represent the organization at multi-agency meetings, advocating for the needs of children and young people with SEN.
Conduct regular reviews of cases to ensure ongoing support and compliance with statutory requirements.
Supervise and mentor junior caseworkers, providing guidance and support in their development and practice.
Requirements
A relevant degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
Significant experience working in an educational or social care setting with children with special educational needs.
In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation, guidance, and best practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proven experience in managing a caseload and leading projects or teams effectively.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in education, and a passion for supporting vulnerable children.
