These HEOs roles are available in the International Strategy Division, which oversees international forums (EU, G7, UN etc), international visits and international benefit rules.

International social security coordination

  • The international social security coordination team is responsible for the policy and implementation of international agreements relating to the coordination of relevant social security benefits including with the EU, EFTA and Switzerland.
  • The team oversees the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement and Trade and Cooperation Agreement within DWP working across the Department as well as other Departments to ensure consistency in approach.
  • This is a diverse, fast-paced area with opportunities to work with a range of stakeholders to improve customer experience, gain an understanding of legislation and litigation as well as represent the Department on an international stage.

International access to benefits

  • The team is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the UK’s position on access to benefits for non-UK nationals.
  • The team plays a leading role in a variety of areas including Citizens Rights Agreements with the EU, EFTA and Switzerland, coordinating with other Government departments as needed, and responding to humanitarian crisis situations.
  • This is a fast-paced area, with a large variety of opportunities including leading operational change, gaining an understanding of legislation and litigation, working closely with government legal teams and external counsel, as well as extensive engagement across Whitehall.
