International engagement
- This role is focused on engagement in the DWP international multilateral employment and social policy forums, including the G20, OECD. It is a stretching role especially given the wide remit Government policy on all employment and social matters.
- The postholder will engage across Whitehall and DWP and internationally with colleagues from other countries on matters related to the debate on these issues and not only DWP policy areas to support the development of UK priorities and positions for our multilateral fora and to develop briefing for senior officials and ministers for their attendance at meetings.
- The role requires a good range of policy skills ranging from stakeholder engagement, briefing, writing submissions, communicating and influencing, negotiation, and decision making. There is scope for further stretch into engaging internationally and in developing expertise in negotiating for the UK to achieve UK priorities.
- This role will require international travel, including some travel over weekends.
