An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Housing and Regeneration department.

Richmond and Wandsworth councils’ electrical section is responsible for the electrical safety of its properties within the largest inner-London borough. We ensure all required electrical safety inspections are carried out within our properties and are passionate that our residents are safe in their homes.

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who is wishing to move to a role involving more inspection and monitoring of contractors.

You must have extensive knowledge and experience of current electrical regulations BS7671, especially the Electrical Installation Condition reporting procedures.

You will be responding to technical enquires from council departments, contractors, residents and councillors regarding a variety of electrical systems such as fire alarms, door entry systems or emergency lights and reviewing servicing and certification documents from contractors.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience.

• Qualifications equivalent to C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation) and NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations, 2391 Test and Inspection.

• A certificate in BS7671 - The Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition as amended.

• You must be an excellent communication and customer care skills, the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

• Good ICT skills are also crucial to this role and it's important that you can write reports and letters.

• Can work well as part of a team as well as on your own initiative is essential.The post is based in our Wandsworth offices and this role also requires site visits, so a full driving licence is essential.

• You must be well organised and able to work flexibly. Good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.

• You may be asked to attend to emergencies and Planned works at short notice which may include work at night or weekends.
