Summary

Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly Lecturer in Personal & Social Development at HMP Channings Wood.

This is a permanent part-time role, working 29.6 hours per week.

Day to day duties of the role

Deliver a high-quality curriculum delivering Personal and Social Development courses or an alternative as led by the Weston College management team.

Organisational and administrative work.

Preparation, assessment and marking.

Developing and maintaining a full course file including comprehensive scheme of learning and lesson planning.

Required skills and qualifications

A degree of professional qualification which is appropriate to the work.

Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.

Excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent computer literacy skills including an up to date knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Located in Devon, HMP Channings Wood is an acclaimed Category C men's prison operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. The facility, focused on security and safeguarding, includes a main site and a vulnerable prisoner’s unit. It possesses four industrial workshops, vocational training courses, educational activities, and comprehensive offending behaviour programs. At HMP Channings Wood, individuals are equipped with functional skills such as English, mathematics, IT and Essential Digital Skills, and vocational skills such as painting and decorating, barbering and construction; skills and knowledge that can help people to make a successful transition back into society.
