Summary

This post is for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine. This is a whole time/part time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This post is 80% clinical and 20% non-clinical. The culture and behaviours in ED are well known to be grounded firmly on the principle that the workforce is the single most valuable asset. This is demonstrated on a continuous basis by attitudes and behaviours which are supportive, helpful, non - blaming and friendly. The team approach is completely embedded in the department and all staff are wholly focused on providing a fast and effective patient service. We currently have 24/7 Consultant on shop floor at Leeds General Infirmary ( MTC) and 16/7 Hrs Consultant at St James University Hospital. The Non clinical time is built into the job to deliver various projects on going in the departments. We also have a generous study budget. Current streams of work: Teaching Simulation Global Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Quality Improvement Information Technology Trauma MAJAX If the candidate has other interests which benefit patient care in ED the department is supportive of Medics pursuing this. The principal of this job is to support and mentor doctors to grow their Clinical and non-clinical skills. DUTIES OF THE POST The individual will work a full shift pattern, working ~36 clinical hours per week. There will be on average 9 hours per week of non-clinical time to enable an individual to pursue a special interest in for example undergraduate education, quality improvement, guideline development, and research. Pay scale - (CT1/CT2 equivalent) MEDICAL STAFF IN THE DEPARTMENT We have over 50 consultants in the Emergency Department with a wide range of clinical, educational, and managerial interests.
