The role of this Personal Care Assistant
Our personal care assistants join our client’s support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only. This role will be to cover 48hrs a week as either one full-time post, or two part-time posts.

Pay rates are broken down as follows:
Monday to Friday 08:00 - 20:00 - £13.50 per hour
Monday to Friday 20:00 – 08:00 - £14.50 per hour (waking nights)
Weekends - £14:50 per hour
All training and supervisions are paid at £11.44 per hour


About the Client and Duties
You will be providing complex care support, as needed for our professionally and socially active, creative client to maintain independence, by assisting and facilitating our client’s health, care, personal, social, professional, educational and voluntary goals.

Essentially, the role requires you to respect our client’s autonomy and support him in performing tasks he would perform himself if he were non-disabled, as well as provide all care needs including personal care.

You will maintain and promote the safety of our client, both at home and whilst undertaking personal, social, professional and voluntary activities.

Typical duties will include:
• To provide all care needs, including personal care
• To provide medication and equipment to our client as needed
• To assist our client as needed getting to and from appointments
To maintain areas of our clients home and vehicle to an acceptable level of cleanliness
• To check stock supplies and maintain adequate stock levels
• To maintain and organise our clients clothing, belongings and equipment to his wishes whilst being careful and respectful
• To ensure our client’s holistic wellbeing is supported at all times as needed

This role requires care skills, empathy, patience and the ability to work under your own initiative whist maintaining confidentiality and without hindering or interfering the client’s wishes and activities.

Training and Support:
We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:
• Full induction
• Safeguarding Adults
• Health & Safety / First Aid / Food Hygiene
• Moving & Handling with Hoist / Appliance Aid
• Medication / Ventilation Use / Nebuliser / Oral Suction
• Personal Care / Gastrostomy Care / Muscular Dystrophy
All training must be completed before the start date, with training hours paid at minimum wage

Requirements:
• This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 - there is genuine occupational requirement to recruit male support workers only
• Driver with a full, clean UK driving licence
• Previous care experience, preferably supporting people with physical disabilities, Gastrostomy care, ventilation and moving & handling
• You should work well as part of a team, be supportive, kind, be able to follow instructions and policies, be organised and honest
• Excellent communication skills
• Ok working around cats
• Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
• You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality
