Summary
We’re a team of five, sitting within the Secretary of State’s Private Office, which itself sits within DCMS’s Strategy Directorate. It is a close-knit, friendly team working across the whole breadth of the department’s work, and with DCMS senior leaders and policy officials.
The successful candidate can expect an exciting, fast-paced and varied job, as you provide advice and insight into visit opportunities for the Secretary of State and Ministers across some of the most interesting and engaging sectors across the whole of Government, from media to sport, museums to theatres, video games to TV and film.
From one day to the next, you could be planning the logistics of a major speech at a football stadium to launch a piece of government legislation, or exploring visit opportunities at a film studio to demonstrate how the government is supporting the creative industries.
The successful candidate will:
- Support the advance planning of Ministerial visits and events by tracking visit bids and liaising with stakeholders, scoping out visit opportunities, conducting visit site recces, and compiling itineraries and briefings for Ministers.
- Support the operational on-the-day delivery of Ministerial visits, liaising confidently on behalf of the Department with external partners onsite, being the Minister’s point of contact for any questions or issues, and providing proactive direction and guidance on visit best practice.
- Work closely with the communications team (press officers; digital content capture) to ensure collaboration on visits and events and that we are maximising promotion of our priorities via a wide range of channels.
- Undertake other duties on occasion in line with their role and responsibilities, experience and grade.
