Summary

McGinley are seeking an experienced Drainage/Pipelayer Ganger to lead a team on major civil engineering and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drainage installation, pipe laying, and groundworks, along with experience in managing a team to ensure efficient and high-quality work. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise a team of pipelayers and groundworkers to complete drainage and pipe installation tasks.
  • Carry out excavation, trenching, backfilling, and reinstatement in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Read and interpret drawings, levels, and specifications to ensure accurate pipe laying.
  • Use laser levels and pipe lasers to ensure correct alignment and gradient.
  • Install manholes, culverts, and associated drainage structures.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with health & safety regulations.
  • Complete daily site reports and ensure quality control of all drainage works.
Requirements:
  • CSCS card (Essential)
  • Proven experience as a Pipelayer/Drainage Ganger on civil engineering or construction projects
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification (Preferred)
  • CPCS/NPORS tickets for plant operation (Excavators, Dumpers, Rollers) (Preferred)
  • Confined space training (Desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence (Essential)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and levels
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in supervising a team
  • Excellent understanding of health & safety regulations for trenching and drainage work
