About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Deputy Service Lead to join our countywide Loan Equipment Service. This pivotal role involves driving performance efficiencies, supporting the Service Manager in designing business plans, implementing strategies, and driving change and improvement. The successful candidate will work with a broad range of stakeholders, including health and commissioning teams, within an integrated care setting.



About GELs:

Gloucestershire Equipment Loan Service (GELs) plays a crucial role in supporting the care sector in Gloucestershire. We are responsible for the distribution, delivery, collection, maintenance, and minor adaptations of medical and telecare equipment. Our service supports people being discharged from hospital and helps individuals remain independent in their own homes.

We have two sites, at Hempsted in Gloucester and Mitcheldean in the Forest of Dean, and the role requires working at both.

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Management: Drive performance efficiencies linked to the Service Level Agreement (SLA) to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Customer Service: Ensure exceptional customer service is provided, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
Strategic Support: Assist the Service Manager in designing and executing business plans and strategies to enhance service operations.
Change Management: Lead initiatives to drive transformation and continuous improvement within the service.
Data Analysis: Utilize data-driven analysis to inform decision-making and improve service outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including health professionals and commissioning bodies, to ensure integrated care.
People Management: Staff Development: Manage and support team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Oversee staff performance and development reviews (PDRs), supervision, and training to ensure continuous professional growth.
Compliance: Ensure the service aligns with relevant policies and legislation, including Health & Safety regulations.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader who excels in managing and motivating teams. The ideal candidate will have:

Leadership Experience: Proven experience in leading and managing a team, including appraisal and formal performance management of staff.
Budget Management: Experience in managing team budgets effectively.
Resilient Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills developed in complex and challenging circumstances.
Learning Culture: Ability to create a learning culture where professional and personal development is valued and promoted.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work with senior managers and a variety of stakeholders, professionals, and politicians.
Business Planning: Experience in designing and implementing customer-focused business planning processes.
Policy Development: Experience in writing policies and strategies.
Change Management: A proven track record in resilience to deliver change programmes.
