Summary

We are looking to appoint someone to join our team of Crematorium Technicians at the Chanterlands Crematorium (Hull) working for Bereavement Services to start from May 2025 when the current post holder part retires.
The role is to provide a very customer focused service for bereaved families and stakeholders. The post holder will be based primarily at the Hull Chanterlands Avenue Crematorium but you may be required to work elsewhere i.e. Priory Woods Cemetery.
You will use complex machinery to carry out the cremations of deceased persons as well as animals at the pet crematory at our Priory Woods Cemetery. You will work to the principles of the Cremation Regulations and Environmental Protection Act.
You will need to be able to follow strict processes and guidelines and ensure an accurate audit trail for human and animal cremated remains is always maintained. You will deliver administrative functions of the cremation and burial process in line with Codes of Practice and legislation.
You will be primarily working in a busy crematory which is an emotionally challenging and physical environment, you will also work in the chapels ensuring services go to plan and meets customers and stakeholder expectations. Organising and collections of deceased with regards to the HCC cremation services is also required as part of the Crematorium Technician role.
Good IT skills and the ability to work multiple systems and processes is essential. You will be expected to work towards and obtain relevant Technician proficiency qualifications within a reasonable amount of time i.e. 1 year, this will be done as part of the role.
A proven track record of a commitment to high levels of customer care is essential, along with the ability to deal tactfully and discreetly with customers from a wide range of cultures and background in what may be emotionally challenging situations. Good accuracy skills which include an attention to detail are necessary.
The post holder must be able to obtain correct information from customers in emotional circumstances, be smart in appearance, accurate, assertive and demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills.
