Description
The Assistant Housing Choice Officer (LBS-006) plays a crucial role within our housing department, dedicated to ensuring equitable access to affordable housing for individuals and families. This position involves assisting the Housing Choice Officer in administering and managing the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, a vital resource that promotes stable housing arrangements for low-income households. As an Assistant Housing Choice Officer, you will engage in the daily operations of the program, which includes outreach and support for tenants and landlords, maintaining compliance with federal regulations and local policies. You will facilitate the intake and screening process, manage case files, and conduct regular follow-ups with clients to ensure their needs are met. This role is pivotal in fostering positive relationships with clients and community partners and ensuring that our housing programs effectively serve those in need. We are looking for candidates who are detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion for public service. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to multitask, and demonstrate a commitment to helping others achieve housing stability and self-sufficiency through various housing programs that address their unique circumstances.
Responsibilities
Assist in the administration and monitoring of the Housing Choice Voucher program.
Conduct intake interviews and assessments for program applicants.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records for program participants.
Perform market analysis to identify housing opportunities and resources for clients.
Provide guidance to clients and landlords regarding program policies and procedures.
Collaborate with social services agencies and community organizations to support clients’ needs.
Assist in conducting regular compliance checks and inspections of housing units.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, or a related field.
Strong understanding of affordable housing programs and regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse populations and build rapport with clients.
Proficient in using computer software and databases for record-keeping.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Annum: £16.39
