The Role

Would you like to work in a busy team helping vulnerable and disabled people? If so, please read on.

An opportunity has arisen with the Housing Adaptations Team in Adult Services. We are seeking someone with drive and commitment to help deliver adaptations and oversee our service and maintenance contractor. Could this be you?

With a current Disabled Facilities Grant allocation exceeding £3M for this financial year and increasing to £3.5M in 2025/26, we are looking for candidates who are customer focused and able to achieve excellent results under pressure. The team is very busy and there is a constant flow of work, however you should find the work very rewarding in the knowledge that you are helping the most vulnerable in the borough.

About You

You need to be self-motivated, a team player, prepared to work under your own initiative and to act compassionately in a service area that deals with vulnerable clients.

Your role will be to help deliver lifting and hoisting equipment to clients. In some cases, you will clients with the application process associated with the Disabled Facilities Grant and the other discretionary adaptations grants we offer and keep them updated at all stages. We are also running a program of replacing all the equipment on the service contract and this will form part of the duties of the role until it is completed in early 2026 and so working closely with out in-house Occupational Therapist will be required.

In addition, you will oversee the day to day delivery of the service and maintenance contract and check that servicing and repairs are being carried out as per the specification and approve minor repairs outside the set limits.

The post will be hybrid working with the opportunity to split your working week between office and home.
