Job Vacancy: Commercial Cleaning Operative
Location: Waterstones Bookstore, Kent
Rate of Pay: £11.44 per hour
⏰ Hours of Work:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
08:30 AM – 11:00 AM
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Commercial Cleaning Operative to join our team at Waterstones Bookstore in Kent. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
General Cleaning Duties:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
Dusting and wiping down shelves, counters, and display areas
Cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
Restroom & Staff Area Maintenance:
Cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, and cubicles
Restocking toilet paper, soap, and other consumables
Ensuring high hygiene standards in customer and staff facilities
Waste Management:
Emptying and replacing bin liners
Disposing of waste in accordance with store policies
Recycling where required
Additional Duties:
Ensuring high standards of cleanliness in stockrooms and staff areas
Identifying and reporting any cleaning supply shortages or maintenance issues
Following health and safety guidelines, including COSHH regulations
Requirements:
✔️ Previous cleaning experience preferred but not essential – full training will be provided
✔️ Ability to work independently and efficiently within the allocated time
✔️ Good attention to detail to maintain high cleaning standards
✔️ Reliability and excellent timekeeping
✔️ Understanding of health and safety procedures in a cleaning environment
✔️ Friendly and professional attitude when working in a customer-facing environment
