Summary
An established and successful company in Merthyr Tydfil are recruiting for an experienced Accountant on a permanent basis.
The company has a long presence in the area and have a developed a reputation for excellence due to the quality of their products. Reporting to the company’s Financial Controller, this role is responsible for the financial reporting of subsidiaries within the group.
Accountant job description
- Responsible for general ledger accounting entries including journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and corrections.
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of the books and assist in preparing financial statements during the closing process.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliations for general ledger accounts, sub-ledgers, stock and Bank.
- Resolve discrepancies between accounts.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting system.
- Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
- Cash Forecasting.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Accountant person specification
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Professionally qualified Accountant.
- Strong academic background, being at least a part qualified Accountant.
- Excellent organisation and analytical thinking skills.
- Proficient with Office, especially Excel, and familiar with ERP systems.
- A hands-on mentality, ability to work independently with a high degree of team spirit.
