Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled, committed and compassionate Deputy Service Manager
The post holder, working closely with the Service Manager, will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of patient care within their Service. The post-holder will be expected to identify and implement initiatives to improve services, with delegated responsibility from the Service Manager, and lead designated projects to ensure key performance targets (financial, operational and clinical) are met.
The post holder will also provide a senior point of contact to A&C staff, enabling patients to receive treatment in accordance with the NHS Constitution and the Health and Social Care Bill 2011. The post holder will work closely with clinical and nursing leads to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered within clinical directorates, in line with the Trust policy and standard operating procedures.
• Lead, manage and motivate administrative staff within the Surgery & cancer services, ensuring that appropriate management structures, policies and practices are in place to achieve high levels of performance
• Work with Service Managers, Operation Managers, Clinical and Nursing Leads to support the delivery of safe, efficient and effective clinical care within allocated resources.

• To ensure that people management activity is handled effectively and in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures, seeking advice and support as necessary
• Provision of day-to-day expertise, guidance and instruction to the administrative team
• Selection and induction of new members of staff, including training with regard to trust/ department/specialty policies and procedures
• Monitoring, reporting and management of sickness absence
• Co-ordination of annual leave and work rotas according to protocols across directorates
• Appraisal of team members, ensuring completion of appropriate documentation and identification of development needs
• Promotion of a positive and effective working environment by motivating and communicating with staff at all times
