Summary


We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and experienced senior speech & language therapist to join our SLT ENT Laryngology and Airway Reconstruction team based at our Charing Cross Hospital site.
• You will have a specific remit to inpatients and outpatients presenting with swallowing and communication needs arising from benign ENT diagnoses, including those with airway stenosis and tracheostomy.
• As a senior SLT, you will play a key role in providing leadership to the SLT ENT Laryngology and Airway Reconstruction service, with key responsibility for the dysphagia and airway reconstruction pathways. You will work alongside fellow clinical lead specialist SLTs responsible for voice pathways, and together, ensure efficient and effective management of caseloads, supporting colleagues and junior members of the team in patient-centred service provision.
• You will provide SLT-led FEES and video fluoroscopy and have access to emerging instrumental evaluation tools.
• You will contribute to multidisciplinary clinics and share your expert clinical skills to support the SLT and multidisciplinary teams.
• You will contribute to innovation and service developments within the specialism, working closely with the service managers, consultants and specialist nurses to provide and develop the service.

• This job description is for clinical lead therapists who lead uni or integrated therapy teams on one or more hospital sites and/or community within Medicine, Surgery & Cancer, Neurosciences, Outpatients, Nutrition & Dietetics, Speech & Language Therapy and/or Children’s therapies.
• This post relates specifically to the Clinical Lead Specialist SLT for ENT Laryngology and Airway Reconstruction based at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH), home to the National Centre for Airway Reconstruction. The post holder acts as a clinical lead specialist providing a service to inpatients and outpatients presenting with impairments of swallowing (primarily) and communication/voice related to benign ENT / laryngological conditions, including people diagnosed with airway stenosis / requiring tracheostomies.
• The SLT ENT, Laryngology and Airway Reconstruction service contributes to the site’s SLT-led instrumental dysphagia assessment service (video fluoroscopy and FEES) to inpatients and outpatients.
• The post-holder is supported by the Clinical Service Lead SLT and fellow Clinical Lead Specialist SLT colleagues within the ENT Laryngology and Airway Reconstruction service. Wider peer support is available from Clinical Lead SLT colleagues from across the Trust (H&N, Acute, Stroke and Neuro-rehab SLT teams).
