Summary
We are a registered charity providing a day service in horticulture for service users with learning difficulties or disabilities. The nursery gained charity status in 1994 and is situated on the outskirts of North Cave and grows and sells plants and trees locally and commercially. We’re seeking enthusiastic individuals with a passion for customer service to work in our Retail Team for the 2025 season from March – October. We have various part time Retail positions available. While plant knowledge and retail experience are a bonus, a friendly attitude and commitment to outstanding customer service are most important. You must have a willingness to learn and keen interest in plants and horticulture, training will be provided.
We’re looking for team players who can also work independently, providing exceptional customer service, helping our customers with basic plant advice and keep the retail area tidy. Being active and reasonably fit is essential for this hands-on role and includes some heavy lifting including assisting customers with compost bags. Various working days available, weekend working will be required, please enquire for more information about working days. Your own transport is essential due to our location.
Responsibilities
• Assist customers with product selection, providing expert advice on plants, flowers, and gardening
• Offer excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and friendly experience
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised environment, including benches and display areas
• Support other staff members with day-to-day tasks, including stocking benches, setting up displays, and assisting in the coffee shop as needed
• Help with cleaning and maintaining the coffee shop area to ensure a welcoming environment
• Ensure plants are correctly watered and cared for
• Process transactions at the tills
• Assist with stock management, including unpacking deliveries and ensuring products are correctly priced and displayed
• To ensure proper health and safety procedures are carried out as instructed by the Team Leader Management Team
Requirements
• A passion for delivering a great customer experience
• Experience within a customer facing role and a keen interest for plants
• Experience or skills in areas such as floristry, product merchandising, retail or garden centres is desirable
• Basic maths skills, ability to use a till
• You work well within a team, build relationships, and have fun, whilst celebrating success
• You are punctual, well-presented and bring your can do and hard-working attitude
• You are eager to learn new skills and gain new knowledge
