Llandudno Hostel is a luxury tourist hostel located in the heart of Llandudno. Our building is a beautiful Victorian mansion townhouse which has a great reputation serving families, groups and individuals with quality affordable tourist accommodation. Winning several awards for Fantastic Customer Service we are a vibrant dynamic place to work.
We are looking for a Catering Duty Manager to supplement our growing workforce, required to work 5-6 days per week on a flexible rota basis, this will require working weekends and split shifts. This will be a seasonal live-in or live out position until the season begins to tail off in November (contract ends 3 November 2025). We will be quite busy until the end of October. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Catering Duty Manager to join our team. As the Catering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of group food requirements. Developing an increase in our food business. Hands on role, ordering food, rotating stock, cooking group meals, overseeing kitchen staff. Making sure COSH, HACCP and other environmental health procedures are correctly followed and enforcing other staff members to comply to maintain the food hygiene standards to our 5* rating. However, as we are a small workforce other Duty Manager responsibilities with checking in/out of guests, housekeeping, laundry and cleaning will also be required as and when the business needs.
Duties:
Experience in hospitality, including the management and delivery of a quality service
Responsible for cooking Monday-Friday for school groups but rota patterns will sometimes require some weekend shifts.
Experience of food and beverage best practice
City & Guilds 706/ 1&2, NVQ4 or equivalent level of experience, Food Safety Level 2 Certificate qualifications
Working knowledge of allergens and health and safety compliance requirements
Excellent numeracy skills, experience of stock control and waste principles to maximise profit
Experience of managing a team – experience of leading others, providing guidance to members of your team
Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands – can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
Ensure smooth check-in and check-out processes for guests
Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional and timely manner
Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all areas of the hostel
Assist with human resources functions such as training and scheduling staff
Collaborate with other staff to ensure efficient operations and guest satisfaction
Implement and enforce hostel policies and procedures
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and security standards
Resolve any operational issues or emergencies that may arise during your shift

Anticipated hours are 25-40 hours per week.
PLEASE NOTE - that we are looking for a person who is happy to do a live in role for the season but we will consider a live out person for this role. There is a small staff bedroom accommodation provided, which includes council tax, WiFi, gas, electric, water; offered at no cost in exchange for 3 -5 nights (longer if other staff member is on holiday or sick) On Call night duty cover. On Call period is 7pm-8.30am, it is shared on a rota basis. Any time worked responding to On Call duties will be paid at your normal hourly rate. On Call duties are answering doorbell, responding to fire alarm, answering telephone, ensuring all external doors and ground floor windows are locked and being hospitable to guests if asked a question (such as towels provision) between the hours of 7pm-8.30am, you are permitted to sleep when On Call, you are able to go off site by remaining contactable on your personal mobile phone (having work phone diverted to your mobile).
An enhanced DBS police check will be completed for successful candidate.
As a Catering Duty Manager you will report directly to the Deputy Manager and if he is absent, the owners.
