Summary
• The clinical medical staffs comprise 7 NHS Consultants two South London Rheumatology Specialist Trainees, one shared with Acute Medicine
• The AHP staff comprises of one full time Rheumatology Senior Staff Nurse (this post), one Fracture Liaison Nurse Practitioner, one Lupus Clinical Nurse Specialist, two Physician Associates, one Biologics Nurse and 3 Osteoporosis technicians
• The Outpatient work of the department is divided between Clinic C in Lanesborough Wing and The Hotung Centre for Musculoskeletal Diseases. Clinic C is a dedicated outpatient suite for Rheumatology patients. The Hotung Centre for Musculoskeletal Disease opened in September 2002. This state-of-the-art building provides an additional site for specialist musculoskeletal clinical care, research and education.
• To work as an autonomous practitioner and deliver a specialist Rheumatology nursing service in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• To manage a caseload of outpatient patients
• To ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support through both direct patient contact and other means of communication including digital, telephone and potentially secure video calls.
• To support in the development of evidence based clinical practice in line with current research and guidelines.
• To work in an unsupervised capacity throughout all areas of the speciality.
• To prioritise own work and that of others to ensure the department is managed effectively.
• Ensuring that accurate and timely nursing records are maintained, monitoring standards and taking appropriate corrective action as necessary.
• Storing, checking and administering drugs in accordance with Trust policy and ensuring the correct use and storage of the FP10 (outside prescription).
