About us

At Science Museum Group (SMG), our Operations teams are committed to providing a safe, accessible and engaging environment in our museums, making us truly open for all.

Helping us to continue achieving this goal, we are looking for a Senior Duty Manager at the Science and Industry Museum (SIM) to provide management support to the Operations team.

About the role

As Senior Duty Manager, you will lead a team of Duty Managers to provide exceptional operational support and ensure the Museum operations run smoothly all year round. You will support the Operations Manager and team with strategic management, planning, incident control and providing operational oversight during museum events.

This is a full-time (35 hours pw) role, on a permanent basis. In this role, you will work on a rota basis, working 1 weekend out of every 3. Shift times are 9.15am-5.15pm.

About you

You will bring experience of a management or supervisory position in an operations environment, with an understanding of how to support a team to deliver an exceptional experience for our museum visitors. You will bring some experience of leading a team to exceed targets, ideally in a commercial environment, and will hold strong organisational skills; able to manage various tasks whilst also responding to the daily operational requirements of the museum. As Senior Duty Manager, you will be an effective communicator, able to build solid working relationships with colleagues at all levels and bring your team around shared goals.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
