Summary

We are recruiting a Solicitor at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.25 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent/Full time
Location: Ty Penallta / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Litigation and Welfare Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £41,511 - £44,711 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and able lawyer with sound judgment, good analytical skills and able to work to tight deadlines who will assist in the efficient and effective provision of Legal Services.

The postholder will be responsible for managing a case load of general civil and criminal litigation matters, with a greater emphasis on criminal prosecutions and applications to the Magistrates Court under its civil jurisdiction.

You will be required to provide general legal advice as requested by other departments of the Council and attend Clerk Licensing Committee meetings and School admission appeal panels (full training provided).

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. An admitted Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive qualification.
Knowledge and experience of criminal litigation.
2. Experience in a legal environment, both in the practice of law and in administration within a legal office.
3. A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel around and outside the borough to attend meetings and Court.
