Colchester Area Mission Officer (CAMO)
(Three Year Fixed Term Contract)
Working hours: This is a full-time role (35 hours) with home working and the opportunity for flexible working.
Part-time working may be considered for an exceptional candidate (minimum of 3 days per week/21 hours per week).
Salary: £45,000 to £48,000 subject to experience, skills and qualifications
Benefits: We offer a range of benefits including hybrid and flexible working, 11% non-contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday rising to 29 after five years’ service.
The Diocese of Chelmsford are seeking to appoint a Colchester Area Mission Officer. This is an exciting new role supporting and enabling parishes and worshipping communities in their mission across the Colchester Episcopal Area.
ROLE DUTIES
•With the Area Bishop and archdeacons, and the Area Mission and Ministry Advisor lead the strategic development of mission in the Colchester Episcopal Area.
•In conjunction with the Programme Manager work with deaneries, parishes, and local leaders to develop and deliver missional design and planning for strategic development and potential future missional investment from SMMIB, alongside the Colchester Missional Programme Manager, including preparing documentation for applications to SMIBB.
•Support deaneries, parishes, and their leaders as they develop their missional planning; including leading and facilitating events, including any relevant training, that enable missional learning, planning and engagement helping them discern what they need to flourish and ensure learning is shared with relevant groups. This will include using data wisely as part of the discernment.
•Contribute significantly to the development of a diocesan strategic missional investment plan for a future SMMIB application.
CRITERIA
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the job holder to be a practising Christian and be a lay or ordained minister, and an active communicant member in good standing within the Church of England or of a Church which is in Communion with the Church of England, or a Church that is a member of the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, Churches Together in England, or the Evangelical Alliance.
•Educated to diploma level or equivalent and hold this in a relevant subject area, for example Theology.
•A commitment to and evidence of the ability to encourage church growth with demonstrable experience of being part of a leadership team that has led a church into growth through innovation or parish revitalisation within the Church of England.
•Significant experience of involvement in mission and evangelism and of discipling others.
•Experienced team-player and team leader, able to move between the two with ease, skilled at fostering a sense of belonging and fun, collaboration and ownership.
