Summary

We are looking to recruit a Children and Young People’s Skills Mentor to join our Attainment and Engagement Team (Lifelong Learning).


This is an exciting role within the service providing the opportunity to work with young people from the community and improve their educational outcomes.


On a day to day basis you will:

Formulate and coordinate educational and wellbeing packages of support that meet the Additional needs of our pupils.
Ensure the Health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils who attend the unit by working in a multi-agency capacity.
Provide and coordinate high quality pastoral care by coordinating programs and interventions.
Create an inclusive, comfortable and happy Unit environment to ensure good pupil engagement and wellbeing.
Work as part of a team to ensure effective daily provision.

We are looking to recruit an individual that has:

Good Communication and interpersonal Skills.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Excellent behaviour management skills.
Positive, inclusive attitude towards diversity.
Ability to relate well to vulnerable/challenging pupils and young people.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Be flexible in your approach and be able to problem-solve.
Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
Excellent awareness of relevant policies / procedures / processes related to the post (e.g. attachment awareness, safeguarding, accreditations).
To be innovative and creative in your approach to supporting vulnerable and challenging young people.
Ability to be trustworthy and reliable, and to respect confidentiality.
To be organized and be able to multi-task.
Ability to maintain a professional relationship whilst working with young people and external delivery partners.
