The position of Transport Planner involves:
- Planning and organising the activities of the Transport Operation, including the transition between the customers' peak and off-peak activity periods.
- Planning loads (inbound and outbound) delivery for the operation whilst monitoring KPI for delivery on time, shift revenue and vehicle utilisation.
- Working with the Customer Service Team to ensure deliveries are scheduled as per customer requirements.
- Ensuring that vehicle activity is planned in the most efficient manner.
- Meeting daily revenue targets per shift per vehicle.
- Meeting on a regular basis with Line Managers to ensure that we are operating efficiently.
- Identifying and developing additional areas where we can add value to existing contracts.
- Ensuring that all contracted work is covered in line with customer expectations.
- Communicating collection times and delivery bookings with customers.
- Adherence to policies and procedures within the Business Area.
Essential skills required for Transport Planner:
- Previous experience of planning in the logistics industry is advantageous.
- Have a good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours and WTD's.
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
- Attention to detail.
- Working to deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- MS packages to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
