Summary

We are currently recruiting for support workers/playworkers to work within our Easter and Summer Holiday Hub service and/or weekend services for children and young people with additional support needs based in Edinburgh. The role includes providing fun, meaningful activities such as baking, arts and crafts, games, sports, trips in the community and outdoor play to support young people to have lots of fun!

We have a flexible approach to the shifts you work, as a relief member of staff you can choose the shifts you wish to work! You could work over both services or at weekends/school holidays only!

Holiday Club

Working hours are between 8.30am – 3.30pm, Monday - Thursday during the School Easter and Summer Holidays and you will be based at St Crispin’s School in Edinburgh.

Youthzone – Weekend Service

Working hours are between 9.30am – 2.30pm, Saturdays and Sundays all year round based from our Riccarton or Craigmillar Hub.

This role requires support workers to provide personal care if required.

If you are a qualified childcare practitioner (SVQ3/HNC Childcare qualification) this is extremely desirable however not essential, Capability Scotland will provide mandatory training and can support you to complete an SVQ level qualification in relation to the role!

As a Support Worker, you will be a key member of the team, providing:

Encouragement and support to live as independently as possible
Participation in activities is a key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.
What you need to know

While experience is great, we are really looking for people with the right values. You should have excellent communication skills and be flexible and empathetic.

Experience/qualifications/key skills required

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is desirable as is a willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities. You should have a care related SVQ Level 3, or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale. You should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
