An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Histopathology Department in the role of a Histopathology Workforce development and Education lead. The department will be moving to a new facility and undergoing transformational changes.

The new Discovery Drive laboratory will introduce new ways of working and change how Histopathology services are delivered within the hospital and across the wider healthcare environment. This will include new estate, new technology, IT, improved information and performance management systems, new functions. The post holder will work across all workstreams in support of external experts to ensure a there is a robust workforce for these new and improved process to be incorporated into Histopathology’s future way of working. Ensuring that all service improvements and process improvements are able to meet the highest quality and accreditation standards will fall within the scope of this role’s responsibility.

You will have extensive experience within Histopathology and leading on workforce and education projects to provide an efficient and effective workforce for delivery of a quality service to the patients.



The purpose of this post is to act as Workforce Development and Education Lead Lead, working as part of the internal management team that will drive delivery of the Histopathology Transformation Project

The new Discovery Drive laboratory will introduce new ways of working and change how Histopathology services are delivered within the hospital and across the wider healthcare environment. This will include new estate, new technology, IT, improved information and performance management systems and new functions. The role of the Workforce Development and Education Lead is to support and facilitate the practice development and education of the non-medical Histopathology workforce, registered and unregistered scientists and technical staff, support staff, pre-registration students, apprentices, those returning to practice, returning after retirement and international recruits across the department. You will lead, deliver and evaluate all training programmes and ensure they are fit for purpose and delivering the Histopathology transformation project. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Histopathology workforce plan along with the senior management team and ensure that recruitment processes and practice are aligned with and support the workforce plan.
