The ACUMEN study is a Phase I First in Human (FIH) trial to assess the safety and “recommended phase 2 dose” of melatonin as a potential neuroprotective therapy for babies with HIE. The Chief Investigator is Professor Nikki Robertson, who leads this MRC-funded study with the support of the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL.

These sites include Manchester University NHS Trust, Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, Dublin (Coombe and Rotunda Hospitals), University College Cork, Melbourne (Monash University) and Adelaide (Flinders University). The CRF will have the opportunity to develop a niche area of research and participate in the ACUMEN research group meetings. Full details of duties and responsibilities are in the JD.

It is anticipated that the successful applicant will work clinically on the NICU rota for the remaining 0.5FTE at UCLH. We have an excellent track record of helping doctors get appointed to specialty and sub-specialty training programmes.

Successful applicants will benefit from the Unit’s extensive teaching programme and the excellent clinical experience on offer. All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration.

We would welcome applications from both UK and overseas candidates who are eligible to work in the UK. We are able to offer MS Teams interviews if required. We are able to offer flexible working in line with UCLH policy.
