Summary
In addition to general Diabetes Clinics, specialist clinics including: - insulin pump clinics, community diabetes clinics in Liskeard Hospital, Ante Natal / Diabetic clinics with Dr I Montague (Consultant Obstetrician), Joint Diabetes Foot clinic with vascular, orthopaedic, and orthotics, joint renal / diabetes clinics, with twice monthly diabetic nephropathy clinics, fortnightly joint Adolescent Diabetic clinic is held with a Consultant Paediatrician, joint thyroid eye clinic with consultant Ophthalmologist, joint fertility clinic with Obs & Gynae specialist, joint pituitary clinics with pituitary surgeon and weight management clinic at Cumberland centre. Candidates would be encouraged to develop an area of expertise complementary to those within the department. The endocrine service incorporates pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery on site, chemical pathology with a full range of endocrine assays and dedicated endocrine nurses for dynamic function testing in the Planned Investigation Unit, a fully functional nuclear medicine department with close links with the team. A DEXA bone densitometer is available for osteoporosis management. The newly appointed consultant will be offered a mentoring opportunity and this will be facilitated through discussion with the clinical director. Within the first six months there will be a job plan review. The need for additional DCC or SPA time will be discussed at that point with the service line lead.
