New Directions College are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Casual Learner Support Workers to join the team. You will play a crucial role in assisting learners with additional needs, ensuring they can fully engage with their studies in a supportive and inclusive environment.

New Directions College is a well-established adult learning provider based in Reading, dedicated to supporting learners in achieving their educational and personal development goals. We provide a diverse range of courses and services to help individuals gain new skills and improve their career prospects.



Are you seeking a flexible, part time, term time role where you can make a difference to local people’s lives? The Learner Support Worker roles are offered on a part time, sessional basis for between 4 to 16 hours per week, during college opening hours (Monday to Friday).


About the Role:

Provide tailored support to learners with additional needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and mental health conditions - which may include physical or sensory impairment, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Aspergers, Mental Health difficulties and brain injuries.
Assist learners in developing their confidence and independence in the classroom and other learning environments.
Offer guidance and encouragement to help learners achieve their personal and academic goals.
Supporting tutors by helping meet the needs of individual or small group of learners,
Work collaboratively with tutors to ensure learners receive appropriate support during lessons currently this will be predominantly face to face but may include some online support.

About You:

Experience in a support or care role, preferably within an educational setting.
A patient and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
A commitment to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in education.


Learner Support Workers will have achieved a Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English or equivalent. The post holder should be ICT proficient with a Level 2 qualification in ICT or equivalent.
