Summary
Commercial Directorate
CD’s organisational structure is divided into three strategic teams; the roles are based in two of the teams: Indirect Wing Centralised Operations Team & Chief Commercial Officer’s Private Office.
These are well established roles in both teams and are fundamental in organising and supporting DWP’s Commercial Directorate Senior Civil Servants with their day-to-day activity that equips and allows for their focus on commercial delivery.
Indirect Wing Team
This team has over 130 commercial professionals including a Senior Leadership Team of 5 Senior Civil Servants (SCS). The advertised role is to directly support the Commercial Director who has a direct reporting team of four SCS, leading the strategic categories Estates, Digital, Automated Buying, Business Services and External Resources teams deliver via 941 live 3rd party contractual arrangements @£6.8b of DWP’s core business services for internal staff and external customers. This role reports to the IWCOT G7 and has line management responsibility for the Indirect Wing Diary & Support Managers (3) who support the Senior Management and Category teams with the day-to-day non-commercial activity that allows them to focus on their commercial delivery.
Chief Commercial Officer Private Office
The CCOPO operates as a high-performing team within a fast-paced and demanding environment, where professionalism and efficiency are paramount. The advertised role is to work alongside the G7 Private Secretary to support the Chief Commercial Officer, undertake a range of activities alongside the PO team, ensure the wider CD functions maintain effective business delivery and engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, building and maintaining valuable relationships; including wider CD SCS leads, other Private Offices, Ministers, Cabinet Office, and breadth of commercial customers internally and externally to DWP.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the skills to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, whilst developing key relationships with stakeholders of all grades to deliver best possible outcomes. You will be expected to use and take initiative and drive results; success in these roles will require strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for 2 SEO Diary & Business Support Managers to join the CD teams and support the well-established IWCOT & CCOPO teams.
The roles are demanding, managing a heavy workload which is often compounded by reactive asks. The right candidates will have an ability to grasp complex issues at pace, be pro-active and an innovative thinker and a keen problem solver who can maintain oversight of the bigger picture stepping into enough detail to know when to engage the CCO or Commercial Directors. Building respected effective relationships is fundamental to being an exemplar and the roles require excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative working with your colleagues in CD, DWP & Ministerial Private Offices, senior civil servants, Government Commercial Function (GCF) and cross Government Directorates.
Travel to and between our corporate Hub locations will be required as part of this role.
