Postdoctoral Research Officer in Modelling Climate Risk in the Arctic

Salary: £37,099 - £44,263 p.a. (Grade 7)
Applications are invited for a fixed-term, full-time Postdoctoral Research Officer in Modelling Climate Risk in the Arctic working in the School of Ocean Sciences. The successful candidate will work on the ETHNO-CLIM ("Reconceptualising climate impacts from the bottom-up: An ethnoclimatology of climate risk in a rapidly warming Arctic") project, focussing on identifying and characterising historic and future risk associated with trail mobility in the Arctic under climate change.
Duties will include collaborating with project partners to characterise historical and current mobility patterns and risks, including physical, safety, and socio-cultural dimensions, by applying ethnoclimatology methods to integrate local knowledge with scientific analysis. The role also includes developing and applying trail mobility models to forecast future risks under varying climate scenarios, refining projections based on adaptive behaviours and community inputs.
Candidates should be educated to PhD level in Earth Sciences, Hydrology, Data Science, Limnology, Glaciology or related field, or be very near completion.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible, and the post is available for a duration of 3 years.
This role will be located on campus at Menai Bridge. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
