About the role

Storeperson - Highways Production Hub (A57 Scheme)

Business Unit: Highways – Production Hub
Reports to: Logistics Manager

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Storeperson with ideally a civils background to join our team working on the A57 Scheme. As a key member of our logistics operation, you’ll ensure the smooth running of our stores, effectively managing stock, equipment, and fleet. You’ll be responsible for coordinating the receipt, issue, and stock levels of materials, plant, and equipment, making sure that everything required for the project is readily available and well-organized.

Role Purpose:

  • Oversee the efficient operation of the stores, ensuring that stock levels are maintained to meet the business needs.
  • Manage stock and plant levels, providing regular reports on stock levels and highlighting any potential shortages.
  • Ensure that operational teams have the tools and equipment they need to succeed on-site.
  • Administer cataloguing, segregation, grouping, and the safe disposal of stock and materials.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and manage plant and stock, ensuring accurate stock management and adherence to procedures.
  • Work closely with operational staff to ensure materials are arranged and accessible in line with the project programme.
  • Handle unloading and loading of delivery vehicles, ensuring deliveries match advice notes and checking for quality, quantity, and damage.
  • Liaise with suppliers to arrange replacements or returns of faulty or damaged stock.
  • Order and issue materials, PPE, consumables, and more.
  • Hire, accept, and off-hire plant and equipment as needed.
  • Manage the calibration of tools and equipment, including lifting gear.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized store at all times.

Who we're looking for

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Knowledge of the construction industry, ideally with a civils background
  • Full clean driving license
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, MSP, MS Word, and Excel
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • CSCS Qualification

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • COSHH Coordinator Qualification
  • Loadmaster qualification
  • Telehandler competency
