Summary
To practice as a Specialist Nurse in Dermatology, providing care to patients in an autonomous manner in nurse led clinics, assessing, diagnosing and making safe clinical judgements.. To act as a resource to support the GM biologic gainshare project.
Evidence of qualifications will be requested at interview and during compliance checks.

To be responsible for co-ordinating the provision of continuous clinical care within allocated resources, providing a quality service and high clinical standards for all patients in your area
To provide clinical leadership in Dermatology
Support the Clinical Manager and Service Manager in service performance management
To provide a specialised clinical and educational service to improve the management of patients with chronic skin conditions and improve their quality of life
To be clinically responsible for the assessment and diagnosis of skin conditions in patients referred to the Dermatology Service
To provide expert clinical care in the review, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment and care for patients referred with skin conditions to the Dermatology Service
To provide appropriate treatment, specialist knowledge and education to patients and their carers to enable and promote self-care
To act as a specialist resource to other health professionals by providing both support with individual patients and up to date, evidence-based knowledge via one to one and group education sessions.
To contribute to the continued evaluation and development of the Dermatology Service in line with WWL NHS Teaching Foundation Trust, National and professional policy and guidelines.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
Treating patients referred to Dermatology within local and nationally agreed protocols and guidelines.
Being professionally accountable for all professional and personal actions, in accordance with the framework or scope of professional practice.
Reviewing patient’s prescribed medication regimes to ensure that they receive appropriate pharmacotherapy in safe and effective doses.
Educating patients with regards to:
Their chronic skin condition.
Prevention of and response to flares in their chronic skin condition.
How to correctly use the treatment prescribed.
Expected outcomes.
Written care plans.
Available supportive written and electronic information.

Maintaining an up to date, evidence based personal knowledge and competence through regular continued professional development (CPD), annual personal development review (PDR) and clinical supervision
Being able to recognise own personal clinical and professional limitations, seeking clinical support and appropriate training where necessary and referring or signposting patients to an appropriate specialist or service
Utilising a holistic approach to each individual patient and their family’s physical and psychological care whilst promoting good health and general well-being
Ensuring that wherever nurse prescribing is undertaken the nurse prescribing policy, personal prescribing list (P List), regional and local medicine management guidelines are adhered to
At all times acting within the guidelines laid down by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
