Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Education Advisor to join Barnardo's as part of the Greater Manchester Keyworking Service for Children and Young People with Learning Disability and/or Autism. We currently have one full time post available on a permanent contract. Would you like the chance to provide information, advice and support to Children, Young People with SEND (up to 25 years) and their families?

Covering Greater Manchester, it is essential to hold a valid UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle. As an Education Advisor, you will have passion, commitment and confidence when providing information, advice and support via telephone, email, in face-to-face meetings and through supporting the team of keyworkers supporting children and families. You will work as part of the keyworker team to empower families to make informed decisions, primarily around education.

The role provides lots of opportunities to develop your skill set, knowledge and career progression going forward. The service has a comprehensive training offer including legal training from IPSEA. To be a successful, you will need to have the following:

Experience of children and young people with SEND
The ability to confidently present information to a range of people
Excellent team working skills. You will work as part of a team that covers Greater Manchester
Safeguarding knowledge and good recording skills
Use of a car
Many of the children and young people we support are not accessing their education fully, and require both the understanding of their rights combined with working in partnership with other services to put in place the support required to make a positive change.

Within Barnardo's, the job title for this role is Project Worker 1. This will appear on the job description. You will be supported by senior practitioners and team managers within the service.
