The Head of Site Transition and Rationalisation has leadership responsibility for the closure of surplus Goods Vehicle Testing Stations (GVTS). The postholder is required to provide the professional leadership, support, advice and guidance expected of an experienced Civil Servant whilst supporting the delivery of estates and operational strategies, as well as other government and DVSA strategies.

As a member of DVSA's Corporate Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Site Transition and Rationalisation will lead the site transition and rationalisation team successfully through:

  • The identification, sourcing and relocation of alternative locations to conduct practical driving tests.
  • Move our operational enforcement teams to other sites, including our enforcement check-sites.
  • Manage the site closure process, including staff and scheme relocation.
  • Champion an effective and business focused change management approach in respect of DVSA site transition and rationalisation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Look for and provide solutions to meet DVSA operational and
    administrative accommodation requirements created as a
    consequence of GVTS closures
  • Through positive stakeholder engagement, identify premises where
    practical driving tests, enforcement activities, other schemes and
    administrative support can be transferred out of the current GVTS
    estate.
  • Execute management responsibilities effectively, working with leading
    and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues, ensuring
    capabilities to achieve successful delivery of business performance
    whilst maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial
    resources delegated in line with the Civil Service values.
