Summary
Job Description
As a Fireplace Fitter at Xpert Solutionz Ltd you will be responsible for the installation,
maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of fireplaces, including traditional wood-burning, gas, and electric fireplaces. You will work on both residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with building regulations and safety standards while delivering high- quality workmanship tailored to the needs of each client. The role will require collaboration with other construction professionals to integrate fireplace systems into wider building projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation of Fireplaces:
o Install various types of fireplaces, including wood-burning, gas, and electric
models, in accordance with manufacturer instructions and building
regulations.
o Ensure that all installations meet aesthetic and functional client specifications,
integrating the fireplace into the overall design of the space.
2. Preparation and Assessment:
o Conduct pre-installation site assessments to evaluate the suitability of the
location and identify any necessary structural modifications.
o Prepare and modify walls, floors, and other structures to accommodate the
fireplace and its associated systems (chimneys, flues, vents, etc.).
3. Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure all installations meet the relevant building codes and safety
regulations, particularly with respect to ventilation, fire resistance, and the
safe installation of fuel-burning units.
o Liaise with certified gas engineers where applicable to ensure the safe
installation and operation of gas fireplaces.
4. Maintenance and Repairs:
o Provide regular maintenance services, including cleaning and inspecting
chimneys, flues, and ventilation systems.
o Diagnose and repair faults in fireplaces, ensuring proper functioning of all
mechanical and electrical components.
5. Client Consultation and Customization:
o Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, offering tailored
solutions that suit their style, space, and heating needs.
o Provide advice on the selection of fireplace materials, finishes, and
accessories to achieve the desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.
6. Coordination with Other Trades:
o Collaborate with builders, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to ensure
seamless integration of the fireplace system within the broader construction
project.
o Supervise and direct any assistant tradespeople or apprentices involved in
the installation process.
7. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
o Maintain accurate records of all installations, including safety checks, client
preferences, and materials used.
o Provide clients with post-installation instructions and ensure they are aware of
any maintenance requirements.
8. Continuous Learning and Compliance:
o Stay updated with new products, installation techniques, and industry
standards through ongoing professional development.
o Attend regular training sessions to ensure all installations are completed
using the latest technology and materials.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in fireplace fitting, including installation and repair of both
traditional and modern systems.
Strong understanding of building codes, fire safety regulations, and relevant
standards (e.g., Gas Safe for gas fireplaces).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and client specifications.
Attention to detail and craftsmanship to deliver high-quality installations.
Good communication skills for client consultation and collaboration with other trades.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team on large-scale projects.
