Summary

We are excited to share this opportunity to join the Accommodation Team at Ipswich Borough Council. The successful applicant will be a key member of a busy team dealing with applications to join the housing register and the allocation of social housing including temporary/emergency accommodation for homeless households. Sitting within the Housing Advice Service area alongside the Housing Options and Temporary Accommodation teams, this is a crucial service to enable access to social housing and temporary accommodation in line with Council policies.

You will be verifying and processing online applications to join the housing register, Gateway to Homechoice, in accordance with the allocations policy. You will also be involved in work associated with the allocation of temporary accommodation for homeless households. This will include liaison with accommodation providers and other agencies to ensure suitable placements are made.

We are looking for someone who is educated to GCSE standard and will preferably have previous experience of working for a Local Authority or Registered Social Landlord, providing a high quality of service and customer care to all groups of the community.

You should be organised and a good communicator, as well as have experience of working under pressure whilst maintaining a high standard of work. Being flexible and adaptable to change is a must.

Having knowledge of the legislation associated with homelessness and allocations is essential and previous work experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

There are two posts available 1 permanent position, and 1 post is offered on a fixed term basis for 24 months.

This is a hybrid working role (a minimum of 1 day per week working in the office).
